Flours for every Nepali dish

Atta is essential for chapati, roti and paratha. Maida gives soft naan, momo wrappers and puris. Besan is the base of pakora, sel roti coating and Newari chickpea snacks. Kodo and finger millet flour bring hill-style health to dhindo and porridge. For sel roti, look for our specialty rice flour.

Is atta the same as whole wheat flour? Yes – atta is whole wheat flour milled finely for soft, pliable chapatis.
